I've been trying to find a professional looking skirt for a long time, but all I can find are pencil skirts. I cannot wear pencil skirts! They look TERRIBLE on me. I need an a-line skirt, okay? Is that so hard to ask for?!? :P

I'm really surprised Ann Taylor doesn't have those. I have an A-line skirt from there and I just got an A-line from Sears, of all places. They're out there!

My fav skirt is a knee-length A-line that I got from the local hemp clothing store. Yep, there's definitely out there - but it does seem like the one thing you need is completely elusive, huh? I've needed new leggings to wear under my skirts all winter... Wal*Mart had them for the tiniest of windows, when I discovered this, they were completely picked over and out of my size. So, I waited for them to re-stock. They never did. I checked Target - same story. About the time I was going to check more places (including online sources) Life happened, and I couldn't justify buying new leggings :P Aren't these things still trendy? Why aren't they carried anywhere anymore?

OMG, went shopping today for an interview outfit as it's high summer here and all I have is long sleeved tops and fully lined tailored pants, not good when it's 30+ outside with a stinking hot northwind, I managed to great a great pair of lightweight pants today but do you think I can find a decent top???? I can't wear shirts (huge boobs) and the shops here are still full of that hideously ugly hippy crap, plus they're getting rid of the summer stuff already and bringing in the winter ranges, WTF???

A friend suggested a camisole top but everything's got spaghetti straps and is covered in frou, frou lace and crap that only a flat chested 12 year old can wear, I am so screwed....

Unless Oz is way different with professional wear, you can't just wear a cami anyway... but if you get a frou frou lace cami and put in underneath one of those button-downs that your boobs are too big for, and undo the pertinent buttons... that could work, maybe?

And take the winter switch over as a blessing - the clearance racks are going to have the summer stuff now ;)

I keep getting holes in the left elbow off all the sweaters I wear to work! I had to throw out two work stables last week and then I found an unrepairable hole in a brown cable knit sweater that was one of my favorite work staples. So I'm down three sweaters in a week. :(

My husband has been tearing through the elbows in all his shirts (especially the sweaters) as well lately. He and HANFAN must have skinny elbows, because I've never had this problem. :P

Sulis, do you have any camisoles you can put under a blazer? Just throw the blazer on for your interviews. Any office is probably going to be too chilly for a camisole anyway.

You should wear those sweaters with the funny looking elbow patches that 80 year old college professors wear. That's what I'd do.

I do have rather pointy elbows. lol. The way my work station is set up doesn't help either. It's stupid. To type, I have to sit at an angle with my right arm resting on the desk and my left arm hangs over the desk and is supported by the arm of my chair (which is raised as high as it will go). Worse ergonomics ever.

Huh, I just had a thought... I love my lacy camis as underwear, but unless you can find the rare cami that fits right, wearing one like that might be a bit too much cleavage for an interview - they're definitely made for the small-busted among us... I've had some accidents/public service moments while wearing camis  I know you hate those Boho tops, Sulis, but are there any that might work as an undershirt with a blazer? The blazer would theoretically counteract the baggy shapelessness.

Finding women's shoes in size 11 is a rather painful process. Most of the shoes are very clunky looking and of limited style.

I dont have any right now, but I'm trying to find something that doesn't look like total lingerie to wear under a blazer. I may have to dust off my credit card and go to the designer shops at Chadstone on Thursday but if I'm going to spend $$ on a top like that then it's going to be somwthing I'll get a lot of wear out of.

That's plan B as long as I can find one that isn't an ugly mess print wise. I might have to go with something pastel which I usually avoid but as I have a choice of either black pants & blazer or grey pants/blazer I could get away with a soft peach or that dusty pink (pink, UGH!) maybe even a soft silver or cream. Dunno. I have to find something though. At least I've found the prfect pair of non winter shoes that will still cover my foot tatts.

I have friends who have the same complaint. One recommended Sketchers. She had a freaking adorable pair of kind of hybrid ballet flats/Mary Janes that I actually couldn't find in a size 8 1/2.

My complaint is that anything lower than men's size 8 is a near-impossible find. Which was really interesting when I was trying to find suitable boots for foundry work :P

Most of it will be hidden under a blazer, tho - as long as the colors match, the print won't be nearly as in-your-face. They do it on What Not To Wear all the time. Just don't take the blazer off ;)

Alot of the Boho stuff here is all-over lace. Maybe you could go for an eyelet pattern? That would be subtle under a blazer.

My current clothes complaint is length of shirts. I really, really, really don't need to be showing my midriff at work. Why can't anyone aside from Kohl's make sweaters and blouses that are long enough to wear with anything but mom pants?

MY ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE UNLESS YOU GOT BUNS HUN!!!!

Love that song :)

well ladies I managed to score on my shopping trip today even though I had to use my credit card (1st time in over 10 months!) as I don't want to drain my cash reserves, anyways this is what i found:

option 1: a blue silk lightweight knit top with silk chiffon cap sleeves and bodice detail:

on (my God I need to lose that spare tyre!)

This will look great under my grey blazer and tailored pants.

Option 2: white silk top with ruffle detail, I don't normally wear white but there were no other colours left and it was only $35:

I bought a plain cotton/lycra cami to go under this as it's a bit see through, do I need any more motivation to lose that 5 kilos after seeing these pics, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

the shoes:
will cover my foot tatts completely while letting my feet breathe:

um, need to do something about that bad fake tan job and I need a pedicure too. All up I spent about $300 as I picked up some new seasons pants while in target, I needed some anyway and when I get the job (note my confidence) I'll need work pants anyway :)

OMG yes. I like my shirts to sit just under my belt loops on modern jeans and it's really annoying that most places seem to make shirts for little people.

I love the blue one. I admit that on the hanger I was skeptical, since that shirt would look awful on me. One I saw it on you, I realized that it is full of win for a busty broad such as yourself. Love the shoes too!

Also, am I the only one jealous that Sulis gets summer while we get snow?

Maybe it's because I haven't bought a lot of new tops lately, but I haven't seen this either. But now I'm nervous - with my bust, I need long shirts to compensate for my boobs sticking out and taking the shirt out there with it... if short is the new trend, I'm screwed :(

Thanks for the compliments guys :) I'm not planning to take my blazer off during the interview unless the venue is a sweat box so I'm going with the blue/grey combo, subtle makeup/jewelry :)

Good luck with the interview Sulis!

So it's not so much the clothes fault, but it's so annoying being between sizes right now. Everything is either a touch too baggy or too tight. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can lose a few pounds of baby weight.

Keep at it! I was there for a little bit but I finally dropped down to the next size. It felt good to buy a pair of jeans in the smaller size, and meanwhile, I can wear the old ones when I'm being lazy on weekends. You will get there. :)

JediPunkGirl, I hear ya. I had to find shoes that were comfortable enough to walk a mile in, covered my whole foot, and somehow still looked professional when I was at my old job. It wasn't easy.

Yeah, I'm sticking to small goals right now. And since I'm still breastfeeding I don't want to start a major diet or anything. I figure I'll target 5 pounds at a time. :) It would help if Joe's mom stopped baking though. She keeps making cakes and cookies and sweet breads during the day while she watches the boys. Lady you are NOT helping my wasteline at all. I have no willpower when it's easily available, that's why I don't bake or buy that stuff. :P

I actually went for men's shoes when I worked in security and spent entire shifts standing or walking long distances on concrete while having to wear shoes that conformed to uniform standards. Dr. Scholls, black leather loafers (so you're good if you spill metal), with added Dr. Scholls inserts. They weren't pretty at all, but they did the job.
