So we're going to do a fancier New Years Eve this year. I was looking at dresses online, and I realized I already have a really nice dress... but I'm wondering if it's no longer fashionable.

It's your traditional little black dress. It has a sweetheart neckline, and I know I look pretty good in it. The only thing I'm worried about: it's velvet. I know that if you're going to wear velvet, you should wear it in winter. But is velvet even fashionable anymore? All of the dresses I'm seeing online are made of much lighter material. So please tell me if the fashion police is going to come out and arrest me.

If it's still fashionable, I might buy a new sash or something to dress it up a bit.

velvet is definitely a classic that never goes out of style, just make sure your accessories aren't old fashioned. Pair your dress with modern/trendy jewelry, bag and shoes and you'll be aces!

It's entirely dependent on the dress and how its cut.

There's a good chance I'm female....but that could be the insanity talking.

I swear I replied to this... anyway, I agree with everyone else--velvet is definitely still in. We do want pics of the dress, though :)

My brother says "big thumbs up." He says velvet is very in right now.

Well, I tried it on and it was much tighter than I remembered. I had my husband take the picture anyway, and when I was reviewing it, I decided it was definitely too tight. Oh well.

On the plus side, this means new dress time! ;)

That is mixed news, isn't it?

Post pics once you find a new dress! :)

I don't see what's wrong with posting pictures of tight dresses.

velvet is only acceptable in blazers or accents on tops, in my opinion. a velvet dress with a sweetheart neckline sounds pretty 1997, even though you don't even need this advice anymore, haha.
do you remember that one time when everyone was shouting my name and i used my strength to rip my blouse?
