i'm a physics student! my current favourite equation is lorentz force (the force on a charged particle due to electromagnetic fields), because we needed it to derive an equation in particle physics and i liked the simplicity of it: F=q(E+(VxB) F=force, q=charge, E=electic field, V=velocity of particle, B=magnetic field. yay physics!
projects... well, my last one was dual booting my laptop with windows 7 and ubuntu, but that wasn't so much a project as an afternoon's work. currently i'm trying to get back into photography, after realising that my last three shots (viewable in my blog sporadic development if you haven't got me on facebook, link in my sig) were distintly mediocre. i'm currently <3ing toy camera photography, but as i can't afford to run film through a camera of any sort (about £10 total per roll of film, 36 shots per roll, i take about 200 shots in a session. so not happening), i'm going to have to fake it with my EOS 40D and photoshop. some people hate the PS-effects guys (and as many of them are your average photography student, i heartily sympathise), but to me it's the finished image that matters, not the method of reaching it. call it photography or digital art, depending on your level of purism, but i don't care as long as the end product looks awesome.
hmm... two nightly members to fight to the death... foxglove and nixie would be lulz, ayani (ayame? the one who does weaponry stuffs) and anyone else would be quite funny, in an ESB-vader-vs-luke kinda way. jacob vs dex would be fun too. and there's so many more choices! like april and ericka, for the title of... whatever it is they both want to be (
celebs... a free-for-all melee with all the people in the hills, paris hilton, nicole richie, katie price, anyone like that.
authors... stephenie meyer and chris ryan.
H&K G36. but i can't help but love the ludicrous overkill of the barrett M82 anti-materiel rifle. and i mean, a war-hammer handled correctly is a thing to behold... and one of these days i hope i will.
anyway, i have labs soon, so breakfast time. i shall return later.

undome is evening in sindarin, telcontar is walker or strider in quenya. i love walking in the evening, around sunset, it's probably my favourite time of day. so yeah, i'm an "evening walker." and a LOTR nerd, obv.
not yet. i'd planned to go to SDCC '10, but as i need a new phone, new camera lens, and to pay for a trip to CERN, i'm not going to be able to afford it. i really want to thru-hike the appalachian trail when i finish uni, but we'll see. so yeah, i'll definitely get there sooner or later.
no, in fact, unless you count wales and scotland. but i'll be going to switzerland at easter and maybe somewhere else in the summer. it's kinda disappointing, but there are so many amazing places over here it's not too big a deal.

no, it's taking pictures with "toy" cameras- really cheap ones, that have poor lenses and cases that aren't quite light-tight. things like this: http://nicnichols.co...k/?page_id=4300. what you're referring to is tilt-shift photograpy, which uses a very small depth of field to make things look like you're looking at tiny things from up close.
i never have, no, although i did seriously consider it when i was about 14. i got really into photoshop at about the same time though, so i ended up going the digital photography/art route. personally i think i wouldn't have enough experience to edit photos during processing, when there's no undo button. i'd rather just keep everything digital. distribution's much easier then too.
i have so many projects that are progressing slowly or are in semi-permanent stasis. one that has been slowly on the go for over a year now is hydrogen generation. hydrogen can run engines, welders, all sorts. while better battery technology means the hydrogen economy doesn't seem to be taking off as predicted, i think it'll still be useful for small-scale portable stuff, and evening out electricity flow from renewable power sources. my plan is to build an electrolysis unit that runs from the mains via a PC power supply, which outputs pure (or as close as i can get) hydrogen and oxygen into separate containers. then i could use that for all sorts. my main plan is to run a oxy-hydrogen cutter/welder off it, but i'll try other stuff too. i want to build a solarthermal generator that produces the electricity for it too, so all i have to feed it is pure water and sunlight, and it gives me unlimited amounts of very useful gas. i built a small-scale prototype one day from some nails, a drinks can, a plastic bottle and the sheathing from mains wire for tubing... it worked well, i just need to upscale it. first i think i'll build a brown gas generator as a second prototype, which produces combined hydrogen and oxygen. obviously this can't be stored, it's way too dangerous, but it would be adequate for a welder. an old project (5 years or so) that i still really want to do is a hovercraft... maybe run on hydrogen. the possibilities are endless with this stuff!
hmm... between neverwhere and the graveyard book probably, although i do love good omens and stardust. it's so hard to choose, and i've barely scraped the surface of his bibliography.

yeah, i reckon so. i need to decide on a career first though. or maybe i don't. but either way, i need to be doing something that generates a reasonable and regular income.
yeah, kids are awesome, on occasion. doubly so if i can bring them up like lara croft (the whole independent-but-socially-capable-and-by-the-way-can-kick-ass line that's probably almost impossible to follow, but i can try). it's just the whole first day at school and 16th birthday and **** that's depressing. but then, i'm weird- i was upset because i was getting old on the eve of my 10th birthday. sometimes it seems like i count time differently to everyone else.
hah, no. the couple of girls i've been even vaguely involved with has been either a psycho or a total bitch. they don't like it when they try to make things one-way and i tell them to **** off. so i'm leaving girls alone for quite a while now, while i try and get a decent degree, and work on some projects.

dunno, i don't really pay attention that much... can't say i've ever seen a good picture of renee zelweger.
not huge amounts, i do love me some mindless and physically impossible violence.
nope, no dancing here. i've wondered about lessons, but meh. i'd rather do tai chi, wing chun or muay thai if i was going to pay for lessons in something.
no singing, sadly. wish i could sing, and have occasionally been fooled by acoustics into thinking i could, but no.
elvis. i like a few songs of both, but the beatles are more beloved of douchebag indie kids.

anything that involves building stuff, science, and power tools. all at once.
well, i just came out of a quantum physics lecture, so while that would be useful for the exam, it would kinda be a waste of a wish.
wild cats are awesome. domestic cats are alright. bit like humans, really. sometimes nice, sometimes not and they like to act like they're in charge. they're more independent than people, too. the only thing i don't like about them is that domestic cats account for about 70% of yearly songbird mortality, which is annoying as they're already rare, and were here first. i tend to prefer wild animals to pets, although there are exceptions to every rule.

no particular order: annoying voice/accent; overly made-up all the time; too fat or thin/no figure; unintelligent (doesn't have to be a nobel prize winner, but general knowledge should be mandatory for everyone); manipulative/attention-seeker/generally poor personality.
deaf, i think. i'm very visual, being a (sometimes) artsy person. being deaf would suck, as i love music, the vocal nuances of actor's performances, and generally being able to recognise audio cues in everyday life. but it's more curable/liveable-with.
i don't know any of them. and i'm perfectly happy with that.
i haven't seen many disney movies, and i tend not to remember the characters, as they're just archetypes; the visuals stick with me much more. the pixar ones are amazing though, so i'm going to say otto pilot from wall-e. his turn to 'evil' was a big "omfg!" moment.
that's much harder than it sounds... while my instinct is to say wilderness, it's incredibly hard work just living day-to-day. right now, i'd probably rather live in one of the big country houses you get on the outskirts of cities once you're out past the residential areas. but near an area with wilderness. because i pretty much eat and breathe hills and trees, when i'm able to. i'm currently in a city without either, and it's very sad.
edit: lol, just stopped in the middle of a sentence.

2) the alliance core worlds in firefly. as we saw with miranda (and the school), it might look utopian, but they're all too willing to experiment on their own citizens without consent. utopias... aren't really interesting, so i can't think of any off-hand.
3) movies:
serenity, for its amazing writing (dialogue and stuff, the overall plot wasn't exactly inspired. but did it actually need to be? i'm not so sure), acting (especially from nathan fillion and chiwetel ejiofor), direction, lighting, camerawork, props... well, everything, really.
moulin rouge, for about the same. a little more heavy-handed as it's deliberately stylised, but there's always something metaphoric to notice with each new viewing. and it's just generally an enjoyable (if that's the right word) film.
man on fire, for denzel and dakota, its at least semi-realistic approach to getting shot, the camera techniques which seem to suit the dusty, nervous disposition of mexico city (more so than NYC, they were out of place on pelham 1-2-3), the emotional punch combined with the deliciously deserved violence, all of it.
wall-e, if only for the first hour of dialogue-free characterisation. goddamn genius.
can't think of any more off-hand that would rank up with these four, my "standard" favourites, although i have many more favourite movies.

black-eyed bean pie, when i was about 10. it was completely inedible. i dropped it on the floor behind my chair because my parents wouldn't let me leave the table till i'd finished. i'd intended to clean it up shortly afterwards, but didn't get a chance before they found it. ah... good times.
a pint of 72.5% absynthe when i was 15, after a few other drinks. that ended the night VERY quickly.
0 to 1 times a week, if that often. i generally eat desserts on their own as a snack, i'm not a multi-course meal kinda guy. i rarely eat stuff like that anyway, i don't have a huge sweet-tooth.

hahaha. apart from environmental engineering, space exploration and colonisation is my other major interest. if we're going to survive/thrive as a species, i don't think we can be tied down to this single rock. so yeah, i'd be interested. i probably designed the ship.
definitely.

no. irrational fears are, by their very nature, irrational. and i try very hard not to be irrational.

hahaha, whenever i finalise a design, get it chopped up into blocks, and write the CSS/HTML for it. i do all web work in photoshop and notepad, so sometimes it can be slow going. generally i just go through phases, though. when i go back to my web phase, more will get done on it. i think i might have to go through my science phase first though, which is exciting.
pretty much the entirety of books 6 and 7... i'm not sure that i can pick out an individual moment. i need to reread, it's been a few months since i've read any of them as they're all at home-home.
1 and 2 are okayish, 3 is excellent as a film, meh as an adaptation, 4 is reasonably good, 5 is very good, 6 is horrific. that's how i remember it, anyway. i don't remember watching any of them, just the conclusions i came to.
