Video says it all.
My first thought was ho would early man view these rings from a religious point of view?
People gang up on me because in a discussion I outwit them; and when it comes to my personal life, they're jealous of me.

Honestly I am more curious how the rings would effect gravity and our tidal system.

"I was an elf and every now and then other characters would stop and say 'you are an elf.' If I had chosen to be a human, presumably they'd say 'hello you are an ***hole.' I'd like to see a Tolkeinesque fantasy where the humans aren't the biggest pricks in the room. I mean a lot of my friends are humans and some of them are alright. "

my immediate instinct is very little, if at all. they would be relatively homogeneous, meaning that there would be a slight pull of water towards the equator, but mostly i think it wouldn't have enough mass to really affect it. g=(GMm)/r^2, and since rings are mainly dust and small rocks, it wouldn't have a large concentrated mass, like the moon, pulling in a particular direction at once.
Sporadic Development!

I was eh about the spaced-based images, and was hoping to see some earth-based shots. The video then didn't disappoint. Amazing!
I wonder how the rings could've been used for or affected navigation.

ZOMG, they would have freaked OUT! There would have been all kinds of bull**** about "God's Highway" or whatever. However, on the flip side, wouldn't this have made it a lot easier for the ancient thinkers and brains to figure out the Earth was round? They did anyway based on slim evidence so I think this would have just accelerated things.

Oh yeah, the Greeks would have figured out all kinds of god **** to tie into the rings. "Yo, yo, yo, Achaicus, what if we say that's Hera's golden panties and that Zeus tossed them up in the air on their wedding night and her thang was so fire he ordered the panties to stay up there forever in honor of her?" "I dunno, dawg, that needs some work. I'll think about it after I hit the public bath. ROWL!"
Or something like that, since they hadn't invented panties yet.

That's the first thing I thought of too when I saw this, what cool myths the ancients would have come up with to explain the rings.
