Rumor has it that there's going to be a Made-For-TV Movie/Sequel to Smallville coming around Christmas 2010. Here's the story, including details about a capeless Supersuit, told from the perspective of a Twitard:

Quote

Hey!

Comic Con is fab - yeh, i'm one of those pms-ing Twilight bitches taking over the floor, New Moon roxx!!!

Warner bros reps are grabbing random people at the show and giving them a sneak peek at the new Superman costume for Smallville Me and friends were grabbed by one girl (details below) and taken to a room (down the stairs next to the giant starbucks) and shown it.

it's gobsmackingly awesome! no spandex it looked like leather, its one suit, the top is blue at front and back, red on sides and arms, the trousers are blue at the front and back, red at sides. the superman symbol on the chest protruding out, its red. no cape. it was on a stand we could walk around.

There were no photos allowed, but the lady (name Rosie, slightly bigger build, brown hair) said we could tell others at show, to build hype. They're showing random people the suit throughout today, tomorrow and Saturday, and sunday Tom Welling is flying in just to wear it when its unveilled at for Smallville presentation on sunday.

wanted to email you this right now, back to the show, but Any more questions reply back!

x Anne

Hancock would work too as the example I'm thinking in my mind.

A one suit look, but in Superman colors.

Wait--

I thought something was off. "Why are they showing a suit now for a movie that's going to be shown in a year and a half from now?"

Same link as before:

Quote

Herc.

Confirming to you the Superman outfit for "Smallville" is real, there is a mad dash to a bunch of Warner reps happening right now.

But your previous report is slightly off --the suit makes its on-screen debut in the Season Nine premiere, which is called "Superman".

Kinda coolbeans news then. We should see the suit sooner than expected. There are a lot of silly manips out there of Welling in a traditional Superman costume, heck years ago even I did one CLICK THIS. But I've only found one manip of Welling in a costume that is styled in relation to the rest of the Justice Crew that has been in Smallville.

Check that out below (some fan named Daniel Perez at Superman Fan Art maniped it up):

Ok so we may as well start a new thread for season 9. I was dreading this series a bit. From the season finale of season 8 it looks like Zod will return and be the story that lasts the season. I also read this at Kryptonite Site.

Spoiler! --Click here to view--
Brian Austin Green will join the show as Metallo/John Corben

I am game for that! Hope this season is better then the last.

Yeah, I love Brian. He was ****ing awesome on Terminator.

Last season was pretty good except for how lame that final fight was.

Here, have some San Diego Comic Con news:

--> Tom Welling to make his very first convention appearance Sunday!

Quote

On Sunday morning at 10:30 PT, Welling — who is now a coexecutive producer on the CW series — will join show runners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, as well as castmates Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, Justin Hartley and Callum Blue (aka "Zod"), at the panel session.

So hopefully Sunday we'll get more hints about what's in store...

Yeah, definitely.

Personal preference on the look: I would have done non-tucked in pants, not tights. I'd also remove the "Star Trek: TNG" shoulder points. And then I'd give him a belt, probably similar to Routh's belt, the belt loops would be blue (of course, being attached to his non-red jockeyed pants).

If he's anywhere near as badassed as Zod as he was on Dead Like Me, he's going to be fine.

Uh..He's the guy that was playing Davis Bloom/Doomsday.

You guys are not going to like the spoiler about Zod. It explains why he looks younger.

It's not General Zod. It's going to be Major Zod.

WTF? So it is a like a prequel? I mean Clark can't beat him because then he would stop Krypton from being destroyed and Lex would never have been possessed with him and Lois would not have been......and Davis........and this show just gets more ****ed

That is almost as bad as the joke I told in '95. Remember the accident was the same time as the OJ trial. SO I would ask:

What's the difference between Christopher Reeve and OJ Simpson?

OJ will walk...

I was enjoying last season up till the finale. I'm trying to hold out hope, as I always do every year, but I'm not feeling confident yet.

Let me guess: he and Clark become friends, but then Clark holds back a secret and makes him angry with his altruism. He also falls in love with Chloe, but Chloe spurns him, so that makes him even madder.

What shocking new twists and turns those shall be.

Season 8's finale was not a finale. It was just another episode. Obviously Doomsday isn't dead.... I was kinda hoping Davis would be in this series more but after that finale it's highly unlikely. I like that they will have a superman suit in this season. The amount of times they hinted to it in the last season got a bit annoying. Another thing I'm hoping for is that they don't have Lana. I'm so sick of the Clark and Lana love connection, when it's Lois that he ends up wanting.

Nothing big at comic-con. They said they'll adress why Clark doesn't fly in the season premiere and someone who saw the comic-con trailer said "Ends with shot of Clark in a costume wtih an "S" logo. Looked dark, but it was a dark setting for the scene. Almost looked black with a black coat, and a dark blue Superman "S" shield."

and someone asked about it...

Question about the costume from the clip. Souders says "We know that there's a long, sort of arc, to become really who Superman becomes. For us, we know that it's a bumpy road, and he's not going to go straight to a tailor, probably, and figure it out the first time. So that's kind of where that idea came from. You'll understand it when you see the season premiere."

It would be pretty funny if they alluded to Clark's first night in costume as a flasher under a trench coat. That's the first thing that popped in my mind.

Some more on the costume...
Clark will be wearing a long black coat with a black "S" on the chest. It's almost an amalgam of the Superman logo in "Superman Returns" and the stylized "S" worn by Kal-L of Earth-2, the Golden Age Superman.
He was interacting with Lois from the future in footage just shown to the audience. It looks like something from out of "The Matrix". The costume: picture Batman meets Highlander meets Superman.

Superman Homepage SDCC reporters Ivan and Luis Jaime have more information about the ‘costume’ being worn by Tom Welling in season nine of “Smallville”. The “S” that Clark wears in season nine, according to Ivan, looks to be “the ‘Superman Returns’ logo, but bigger and silver/light blue. The rest of the ‘costume’ looked like the Punisher: all black trench coat, black shirt, and black pants.”

Luis describes the suit as follows: “The chest symbol is flat on his chest and is in grey, on some kind of black outfit, most likely just a black shirt and black pants with a long black coat like in “The Matrix”. There are no tights or spandex. Now that we have a better look at the “S”, it is just like the “Superman Returns” symbol. While the media was forbidden from taking pictures of the screen while the preview clips were being shown, the Superman Homepage did get a picture of the promotional card that was shown on the screen immediately following the preview. The “S” on Clark’s chest is different than what’s seen in this picture.

Some spoilers...

Spoiler! --Click here to view--
* Season 9's theme is "Clark's darkest hour."
* Look for a season-long love triangle with Clark, Lois, and Red-Blue Blur.
* Chloe, still grieving over Jimmy's death, will immerse herself in all things Watchtowerish. Peterson also hinted at some tension for Chlark when she realizes she's no longer content just being his sidekick.
* We'll find out why Clark isn't flying in a scene with him and Jor-El (the returning Terence Stamp) in the season premiere.
* Footage of Brian Austin Green as Metallo will be unveiled at tomorrow's Con panel. As of now, he's on board for two episodes, but Peterson says they're hopeful he'll do more.
* The episode they're currently shooting (either 9.02 or 9.03) focuses on Oliver's downward spiral.
* Battlestar Galactica's Alessandro Juliani will reprise his role as Dr. Emil Hamilton for several episodes this season.
* Story-wise, Peterson is not approaching this season as Smallville's last.*
* I saved the best for last: Peterson recently had dinner with Michael Rosenbaum. Interpret as you like.

http://ausiellofiles...9-spoilers.html

Season nine will be following what will be the last stage of what Clark does before he become Superman, Peterson says. But they are not approaching this as the last season of the show. In fact, they hope to keep it going for a while – despite the fact the show is moving to Fridays.

“We came into this season with 100 ideas, we have a lot of stories,” Souders says. “The studio wants to satisfy the fans. They are not going to tell us in episode 21 ‘Let’s end it.’ They are going to give it time.”

Among some of the things we will see in season nine is Clark training with Jor-El as he struggles with his identity.

We will also see in the series premiere for season nine the show explore why Clark doesn’t fly and the current look he has.

“We will see a different side of Clark,” Peterson says. “This will be the final stage of deciding what he wants to be.”

We will also see an episode in season nine where Lois has a vision of the future and just what that future will be. In addition, we will also be seeing Roulette and Metallurgy this season.

As far as Lex Luthor goes? While the producers have chatted with Michael Rosenbaum, they can’t find the time to work it out with his schedule. So, nothing is panning out right now in terms of him coming back.

Blue says that already in the production process he has said the classic line “Come and kneel before Zod” as it was said in SUPERMAN 2. However, Blue admits, “It’s not as cool as Terrence Stamp … yet.”

Blue says his costume at the moment is army fatigues and that he is akin to the leader of a fascist party. “When I become General Zod the costume will change,” he says.

So far already this season, Blue says, Zod has chopped off someone’s head and he will eventually have the powers of Superman but right now he’s trying to figure out why he doesn’t have them right now.

While this is the same Zod that took over Lex Luthor’s body a few season ago, it is a younger version than the one that was pulled out from the Phantom Zone.

Joining Major/General Zod in season nine of SMALLVILLE will be the other characters from SUPERMAN 2 including his future wife, Ursa, and the mute Non, although Blue says Non will talk in SMALLVILLE.

During the season will discover the history Zod has with Jor-El and that while Zod has no super powers before he came to Earth with his army, he promised he would have powers when they got there, Blue says.

Blue has signed on for two seasons of SMALLVILLE and says he will be in 16 of the 22 episodes this year. So plan on a Zod heavy season fans.

Meanwhile, Erica Durance is promising a bit of a love triangle involving Oliver Queen, Clark and Lois. “We will see just how much they depend on each other this season,” Durance says. We will also see the Queen is regretting the decision to end things with Lois.

Durance jokes that when she goes on set she says “Get ready to be smitten boys.”

About the costume...I think it might be a one time thing or something from the future since that's where Lois went. It'd be weird for Clark to wear an all black suit (which doesn't sound like costume actually) with an S, since he's being called the Red Blue Blur. We'll see.

There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force.

Yeah I kind of got the idea that it might be an alternative future kind of thing a la the Superman: TAS episode where Lois goes through to an alternate universe and Supes is all pissed off about the death of Lois and he joins forces with Lex.

I don't know why I let my hopes get up. That season plan and the series plan is lame.

What about Smallville so far leads you to believe that they can execute this season's plan?

Nothing. I haven't watched Season 8 yet to see for myself how much they got back on course.

Season nine will be following what will be the last stage of what Clark does before he become Superman, Peterson says. But they are not approaching this as the last season of the show. In fact, they hope to keep it going for a while – despite the fact the show is moving to Fridays.

That's no good. Thursday at 8 was a nice, convenient slot on my weekly schedule. Fridays, not so much.
