I would like to start a thread for those of us who pray. If you do not pray or believe in prayer, all I ask is that you please be respectful of those of us who do. Or that you hold these people in your thoughts in a way that fits with your personal views.
Any time one of us would like to request prayer for someone we know or care about, we can put their name here and perhaps describe what is going on.
A friend of the family just found out her husband Richard is missing in Iraq. They do not know if he is living, captured, or dead and she is out of her mind with fear and grief right now. Anyone who wants to pray for Richard it would be appreciated.

Oh...
I worry about this every day. I have a friend in Iraq right now. This is his third tour there and, well, we are always afraid we'll be hearing some very bad news... especially his wife.
Sonny, Richard and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray he is discovered safe, for peace of mind for his wife and family and for their strength.

Well, I just found out last night that my Dad has lung cancer -- mesothelioma. They don't think they can operate. He's already lost 18 pounds and has been in a LOT of pain for months, so we'll see what can be done. We're waiting for the lab tests back today to tell us what stage it is. I know that after my mom died of lung cancer, that this is one of his worst fears...and now here it is.
So right now I'm praying that something can be done with chemo and radiation, but this cancer isn't cureable, and it's not known for giving people lots of time.

He has Ewings Sarcoma. He has an 8 inch tumor that developed in his ankle and up his leg in the bone marrow. For two months he complained of leg aches but what was thought to have been growing pains or leg cramps has been confirmed as a cancerous tumor. Apparently, he will need surgery and chemo treatment.

Sorry to hear that, JC. Your family has been added to my prayers.
So by your sister-in-law's little brother this is Six's little brother? Just wondering.
Also Lace, your family is in my prayers.
I'm so sorry to hear that cancer is attacking your families. My family was attacked by cancer early this year, my mother-in-law died of colon cancer this year. It's a horrible, hateful disease.

Man, I hate to add to the bad news, but my uncle had to have brain surgery yesterday. I don't know a lot of the details, just that he collapsed and when they took him to the hospital they had to transfer him to a larger one for immediate surgery. I haven't heard how he's doing, but I'm hoping that no news is good news.

Update:
The doctors at Riley Children's Hospital (the second opinion) were not quick to assume Cancer and decided to take him into surgery yesterday for a biopsy. After the biopsy, the doctors seem to think that the growth inside the leg may just be a really bad infection vs cancer. Not that infection is good but it sure is better if it's not cancer in the end. They sent the biopsy specimens out to Pathology labs and the results should be in by Monday. If it is only infection, he would only have to be hospitalized for a period of time for IV antibiotics then continue the course at home.

Man, that's really good news that it's not cancer! But wow I can't believe an injection could get that bad that you'd think it was cancer. That's some House drama right there. Anyway, all my best to him and his parents.

So glad to see all the good news! Maybe this prayer thing really works...
My mom wasn't able to make the trip to see my uncle due to a big snow storm last week, but the report is that he's concious and doing fine, although he will still be recovering for some time. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.
We're still thinking of you, Lace!

Thank you. My Dad gets released from the hospital today (he had had exploratory lung surgery to diagnose the cancer). So I'll get my first chance to talk to him tonight. I've not had much of an update, but it looks like they're going to try chemo to beat the cancer into remission if all goes well.

Thank God about Richard being found!
Still praying for Richard's recovery, JC's brother-in-law, Lace's dad and now also Cash's uncle.
Chemo can be so draining, Lace, but hopefully it can kick that cancer to the curb.
JC, do the Doc's have any idea why this infection has appeared?
Cash, in a totally unqualified guess it sounds like an aneurysm. Is that what struck at your uncle?

I've updated by prayer list for Ms.Skywalker's friend.
This has been somewhat bothering me, so I figure I'd state this now... May I make a request about the form of asking for prayers?
I am sure that God knows who I mean when I pray, but it is somewhat hard to grasp the situation when I don't know the name of the person I'm praying for. I'm not saying give me the full name, address and phone etc etc. Just the first name would be nice to know, however it is not a condition needed for me to care and pray. Like I said I'm sure God knows who I am praying for, but it is odd to pray for "Darth Tator Tot's dad" or "Supernova Geek Master" etc etc.

Good idea! And I second what Jedi Cool said.
I passed along that others were praying and giving well wishes to Richard and his wife and they wanted to pass along their thanks. Apparently he took a blow to the head while on patrol so was unconscious for several days. He was never "lost" so to speak, it was just that his whereabouts were classified for some reason because of something his unit was up to so none of the people his wife was able to talk to knew where he was or what his condition was. The military is paranoid like that sometimes I guess.
