History channel rules!
Just wanted to say, their coverage of the 9/11 tragedy this year was the best I've ever seen. Amazing footage!

Totally agreed. Last night's show was unbelievable. Put a whole new perspective on how things happened.
And the channel in general is just amazing. So many good things come one that channel, I watch it all the time.

I've actually ordered a couple of their 9/11 docus from amazon (although not the conspiracy theory ones, because that's all a load of crap

) to add to my now growing collection. Great stuff, particularly the ones about the Hamburg Cell and the operation to ground the planes

I've also got the Naudet documentary, which is THE definitive retrospective on the event. Anyone with an interest in 9/11 MUST see this one. shot from the point of view of guys inside the damn building. The two-part Nat Geo special on the events before, during and after, as well as The Falling Man, about the quest to find out who the (in)famous 'Falling Man' was that was photographed. I've got a little library now these days, because I feel it's an event I should remember for the time my kids (if I ever have any, of course) ask me about it.

Yea, I was just flipping through channels last night to find something to watch as I fell asleep and came across the one with all the collected footage. Yea I didn't sleep until it was over.

I don't remember the History Channel doing anything that promoted the 9/11 conspiracy theories [which doesn't mean I missed such a show]. I have seen their documentary that shredded the major arguments of the 9/11 conspiracy theories and showed just how ridiculous those "theories" {and I use the word lightly} are. It first came out around August of last year.

Are they replaying any of that stuff? Some of those sound pretty interesting.

The Falling Man one makes me queasy in a "why?" sort of way.

Their micro-series on "The Presidents" was really good, too.

It was until they gave Carter 20 minutes to justify his lousy presidency.

I'm not sure, I'm thinking it was a one day thing and you probably won't see most of these docs replayed until next year on Sept 11th.
The really amazing one I watched (and taped because I wanted to watch it again) was called "102 Minutes that Changed America" which was assembled footage from various sources shown in real time. There was also a show called "The Man Who Predicted 9/11" about Rick Rescorla who was a hero who saved hundreds of people by guiding them to safety out of the south tower but never made it out himself.

Totally agreed. "The Man Who Predicted 9/11" was great as well. I had never heard of the guy before I saw that show.
I also really enjoyed Nat Geo's "The Final Report - Inside 9/11". Awesomely thorough breakdown of everything leading up to, during, and after everything that happened without getting all conspiracy theory-ish. I've watched it a few times now, very good show.
As far as the show they had on the other night with all of that footage, I doubt they'll air it again until next year. The show was pretty unsettling and I would imagine people getting upset if they aired it regularly. And it'd probably be too expensive for them to air it the same way they did originally too. 90 minutes with no commercial breaks at all. I dont think they even had commercial breaks for the show that aired afterwards that was interviews with the people who filmed all of the footage. I'm not sure though because I didnt get to watch all of that.

I saw your post 5 minutes after the show started and switched from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to the History Channel. The "Blair-Witch" camera effects got to me after awhile, but it was a very moving show. My husband even sat with me and watched it.

I am slowly starting to prefer History International. They had nice shows air recently on Judas and on Marco Polo.
