24 Resets Clock for Day 7 on Jan. 13
Source: Fox
September 19, 2007
The innovative, addictive, Emmy Award-winning television series "24" resets the clock for Season Seven with a special two-night premiere event Sunday, Jan. 13 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Monday, Jan. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on Fox.
In keeping with Fox's commitment to airing original programming year-round, the intense season will unfold in "24's" regular 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT time period beginning Monday, Jan. 14, and will continue to air all originals all season into June.
"Day 7" of "24" will continue the show's unique and trend-setting format with compelling new elements. With CTU dismantled, the show's setting moves to Washington, DC, where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) faces trial for his actions in the pursuit of justice. Bauer's day gets off to a shocking start when former colleague Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard), last seen in "Day 5," returns after being left for dead by a terrorist conspirator in CTU's infirmary.
"Tony's uncertain fate near the end of 'Day 5' left the door open for his return," said executive producer/show-runner Howard Gordon. "And since there was no silent clock at the conclusion of his last appearance the '24' tribute to a major character's demise we always kept this as a possibility."
Bernard's return highlights a list of notable cast members clocking in for Season Seven, including the previously announced Cherry Jones as President Allison Taylor and Janeane Garofalo as FBI Agent Janis Gold. Colm Feore will play First Gentleman Henry Taylor and Bob Gunton is White House Chief of Staff Ethan Kanin.
FBI Agents assigned to the team investigating the crisis befalling Bauer include Garofalo's Agent Gold in addition to Annie Wersching as Agent Renee Walker, Jeffrey Nordling as Agent Larry Moss and Rhys Coiro as Agent Sean Hillinger. John Billingsley portrays security specialist Michael Latham. Although CTU is no longer, Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) are back for another momentous day of shocking events.
I am so hype for Day 7, I can't wait. I wonder how they're going to explain how Tony was alive. Not, that I don't think it's a bad idea or anything. Next to Jack, Tony was always one of my favorite characters. I also like the idea of the producers using a female president for this season.
Hopefully, Day 7 will make up for my dissatisfaction of Day 6.

this is serious jumping of the shark, 24 will never be as good as it was back in season 5 again and now with this news which is a serious sign of desperation in my mind with releasing of this news via a media release! i can see so many holes in the press release alone that scream we are unsure of what we are doing, i mean come on that could of be one of the biggest holy #### moment in tv history (still jumping the shark though) with tony walking out of a shadow to confront jack or something along those lines
his fate wasnt uncertain, they all but comfirmed it a number of times in the past 2 years that Tony was dead and not coming back, i agree it was the biggest mistake ever to actually kill him off but gee whats next? edgar rising from the dead? chase's hand stars in the next adam's family movie?
so i am quite disappointed with the way 24 has going over the past couple of years with the turn over of characters, heck we have another new president! i know that this series is built on being unpredictable and anyone can die but have some good character devealopment over a couple of seasons and not kill off the total fan favourites such as tony and then realise that it was a mistake and bring them back
i'll still watch the show coz jack is well jack! who doesnt love watching bauer do his thing! but for the first time it wont be the first up automatic it used to be when i "acquire" my fav tv shows!

I agree with pretty much all you said.
Seasons 2 - 4 were my favorite seasons by far. Season 5 was OK for me but it was definintly a character purge season. Season 6 started off OK, but went to the ****s after. Sounds like the writers are heading in the right direction for Day 7 though...
Time will tell.

I read the spoilers because i agree that the show is not what it used to be so i don't mind being spoiled. It wasn't just last season, 24 has been on a steady decline over the last couple of seasons at least. I really think the premise of the show has been played out. The number of things that happen over the course of the season is just so utterly preposterous that its almost laughable. Plus, they are clearly running out of ideas; so many of the things that happened last season season were recycled from previous seasons.
Despite my backlash i'll probably still watch, but like many its def. not a priority like it once was.

I've bought the THIS YEAR EVERYTHING WILL BE DIFFERENT hype from 24 for a couple years now and refuse to be trciked again. I'll tune in for the first few episodes, but if they don't blow me away fast, I'm out.
If they really want to impress me they'd give the terrorist badguys of the season an EMP that eliminates the ability for plot devices being solved via "opening a socket" and uploading something to Jack's PDA. And for the love of god, get off the damn phones.

What he said. Unless the annual nuke blows the technology in the 24 universe back to the 70's, I'm not going to be suckered into another season.

Problem is that the show does start out great and is great for about half the season then it sort of withers and plods along to the full '24'. It's like the show should be called
16 because it seems to have an expirery date. Hopfully they will think this 'Day' out better.

Good point Malfoy, the show does start out good then wanes greatly. I suspect the same thing for this season, which is why i said the show has been on the decline for a while.
Tank, i don't see there's anyway they CAN"T use cell phones. That's the way the modern world communicates if they take that out of the equation how will characters talk to each other?

By being in the same scenes!
I'm not fulyl serious-- but it has gotten to a the point that it is almost liek a weak episode of Star Trek where in a crisis is sovled by a phone call, and tapping on a keyboard. It's very anti-climactic-- especially ina show that is is oftent imes action packed.

Yay Tony is back - i was gutted when Tony and Michelle went out like punks.
They better not bring him back and kill him off in the first hour.

I bet they reveal Tony has a healing factor, hence him walking so well after snapping his ankle on Day 2, returning to work just hours after getting shot in the goddamn neck on Day 3, surviving some explosions afterwards, and going toe to toe with Robocop just an hour or so after waking up from one of said explosions. Then they'll spin Tony off into a show of his own, as well as have him pop up in 3 of every 4 Fox shows every other week.
I can't believe I just gave Fox all of this great advice for free.

so not sure if you guys read about Keifer being arrested for another DUI, which violated his probation (it's his 2nd one), and he could serve jail time. This could put a big wrench in filiming for this season, eh?
DarthAl
3 Oct 2007, 10:37 AM
Yeah, poor Kiefer getting popped for DUI, he know better and FOX should try to keep in check one of their biggest stars. I'm continually amazed how stars who make boatloads of $$$ can't spring a few bucks for a car service!! I saw a video of him after the party where he got drunk signing autographs, he was totally slurring his words and his eyes were bloodshot. The funniest thing about the video was that there were 2 cops standing right behind him.

Totally oblivious!!! IDIOTS!!

Amazing! The odd numbered seasons always seem to be the best.

I've heard that by the end of 24 it will consist of three trilogies. Seasons 1-3. 4-6. 7-9.

naw not a great fan of it, i still like the idea of tony being the villain, i mean they bring him to most likely die again at the end of the season? he prob wont be the main big bad though hopefully as the season long big bads seem to be the poor seasons while the seasons when they build up who the big bad is are the ones in my opinion are the best
heck i would of preferred henderson to be in this role instead of tony, i still see tony as being the only guy that could take over the series if they ever decided to kill jack off
also interested in how storyline wise they are going to explain that tony is still alive, i still say it would of been a fantastic what the .... moment if they ahd kept tony's return a secret even if he is the bad guy
when i think about it, this preview just makes me think that this is so far going to be a season long version of die hard 4 with the whole fire sale type situation
remember last season had one the best opening 4 hours of the series ever then fell away extremely hard, i dunno maybe i am being to hard on it but it will take more than a great trailer and a great opening 4 hours to really sway me, i'll watch them but it is on its last legs in my eyes

It reminded me of Die Hard 4, as well. Even still, I'm certainly willing to give it another go. The whole idea of the trial works for me and I like that it's finally moving out of LA. I'm still skeptical about the whole Tony deal, but that trailer has me feeling good things again.

26 Oct 2007, 11:36 PM
Trailer does indeed look good. Let's keep in mind that trailer can be very deceptive (TPM teaser trailer comes to mind). It does totally remind me of Die Hard part 2 and the last one. Tony as a Bad guy should be alot of fun. Then again as is the case in EVERY season of 24 we'll find out at some point that Tony is a mere pawn and he's actually working for someone who's behind the scenes.
BTW, once FOX starts airing that trailer during their regular broadcasts a lot of people are going to be upset at them giving away such a big spoiler as Tony being back AND he's a bad guy to boot.

We don't get much info over here on the new series - is the plan just to delay the 7th series from airing at all until the strike is sorted out? And how would that fit in with the schedules, which I know are a complicated thing in the US what with "Sweeps" and so forth.

5 Dec 2007, 12:47 PM
From what i've heard and read yes, the Jan. Premeire of season 7 has been delayed until the Writer's strike is over. One of 24's producers was on a local readio show here in LA and said they've only filmed about 8 episodes so that leaves over half the season still up in the air. He said they want to air the season uninterupted, so my guess is we may not see Season 7 untill sometime next fall at the earliest.

Actually, Kiefer is serving MOST of his sentence in a Glendale jail (just north of LA). So he's not in LA 'County', like PAris Hilton was. A Glendale jail is nowhere near as overcrowded as an LA County jail is. So, he'll probably end up serving most of his sentence.

According to the trades today--
There is good news and bad news. Bad news- The season is not only delayed-- but scrapped. They will be starting fresh in the fall for Jan 2009.
The good news... the footage that has been shot will be recycled into a 2 hour TV movie that will serve as a stand alone sory taking place between seasons. No word on when it would air-- but obviously sometime between now and next January.

So let me get this straight..., some of the show is going to be set in AFrica.? How are they going to explain it when Jack has to get back to the States?. A plane ride from AFrica to the East Coast is at least a good 8-10 hours what the hell are they going to do for 10 episodes? But this is 24 so Jack will probably be escaping from a terrorist camp in Sudan and be back in Washington after a short commercial break.
Tank
6 May 2008, 03:05 PM
The intended plan was there to be a gap in time to allow him to get back. Like they would skip ahead. Kinda seems to violate the 24 real-time style. Maybe that's why they nixed it.
My guess is for the TV movie, the whole thing will take place in Africa.
