'Jack Bauer is now the prime suspect" -

but for what? That is the question.

My guess, David Palmer's assassination?

Season five picks up 18 months after the exciting conclusion of season four, as national security is brutally breached. A shaky President Logan (Gregory Itzin) is running the nation, while composed Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) commands CTU alongside key operatives Curtis Manning (Roger Cross), Edgar Stiles (Louis Lombardi) and Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub). Also featured in season five will be Emmy Award-winning actress Jean Smart as First Lady Martha Logan. In addition, Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) and Audrey Raines (Kim Raver) return.

Julian Sands (Warlock) joins the cast as billionaire bad guy "Vladamir Bierko," (If there is a Jackie Morales character I am suing) while Peter Weller (Robocop) plays Christopher Henderson, a federal agent who recruited Jack to counter terrorist work more than a decade ago. Also joining the cast are JoBeth Williams (Poltergeist) who plays Henderson's wife Miriam and while Sean Astin's ( Goonies, Rudy, Lord of the Rings)character Lynn McGill joins CTU.

There are ONLY 2 things i'm asking for from 24 this season:

1. Please don't "bite off more than you can chew". Last season they had The Sec. of Defense and his daughter kidnapped, nuclear reactors shut down, Air Force blown out of the sky, Top Secret briefcases stolen, a nuclear missle trying to take out Los Angeles. All this in a 24 Hour period; riiiiiiiiiiiiight, that's possible. They need not include so many possible scenarios and stick with one crisis like they have done in previous seasons.

2. NO MORE MOLES AT CTU!!!!!!!!
Jesus H. Christ don't these people do background checks!!!!!!

Still, i'm very much looking forward to the new season in Jan. smile.gif

I wouldn't be suprised if someone tried to off Bauer at CTU, looks like this year, everyone who knows " Bauer' is alive is now a target.
EwoksSuck
My Season 5 prediction: Chloe and Edgar do the nasty on Jack's old desk at CTU and she yells out "Ohhhh yeahhh Jack!" at the worst possible moment sending Edgar into violent jealous rage resulting in President Logan messing his britches when he finds out about it.

um... how many moles have there been? I can only think of Nina Myers. Am I missing something?
Jacen123
There was also the one last season. I don't remember her name, though.
Thomas Alan
When does this start anyway?

Season 1 : Nina Meyers was a mole.

Season 3: Gael was a mole.

Season 4: Aisha Tyler's character (name escapes me) was yet another mole.

I'm sure there was a mole in Season 2, just can't remember right now.
Dom
Gael wasn't really a mole, and season one had two moles.

Here's another trailer for the new 24 season.

http://www.24la.net/videos/teaser7season5_24la.wmv

I'm pretty sure that the voice screaming " Get Help' is Wayne Palmer- David Palmer's brother and former chief of staff ( Season 3).
DarthAl
Def. Sounds like Palmer's Brother. Also that Terrorist appears to be a suicide bomber at an airport.
Jacen123
Damn. I was hoping to see Jack sporting his long hair from the Season 4 dvd.
Ven Halcyon
Hmm, must find UK release date.
spaggy
anyone find out the uk release date and channel for season 5 in the uk:>

thanks

Sarth Didious
Apparently, it starts on Sky 1 on February 20th. That info could be subject to slight change.
Sarth Didious
Double post. Sorry.

I'm pumped finally am completely caught up to this season, is Michelle Desslers character going to appear again?
ShadowDog
I don't think so because I think the actress is on another show now. But I could be wrong on both counts.

I am, however, really pumped for this season! I just wish Blockbuster would rent the last smegging disc of Season 4 so I could check out that Season 5 prequel. Grrrrrr.
iowahawks
I thought the prequel was just a glorified commercial for Toyota, seeing how it was "Presented by Toyota" and a great majority of it involved a car chase in a Toyota.
Dom
Tony and Michelle are supposed to appear this season, according to TV Guide.
ShadowDog
That makes me feel better, iowahawks. I hate it when they do that.
Thomas Alan
Just finished the Season 4 DVD and I've gotta disagree with DarthAl about the biting off more than they could chew thing. I thought they stayed more focused last year than any year since Season 1. Season 3 was a much worse case of going all over the map (honestly, I can't even remember the logic to half of it). And Season 2 had all the silly Kimberly scenes.

Season 4 was very tight in terms of the plotting. One thing led to another pretty seemlessly. I attribute much of it to having a good villain who appeared relatively early in the season.

Though I don't quite remember what happened with the Azaz kid after Marwand got him back. I think they just dropped it and let us assume they killed him. Tough luck kid laugh

My favorite part of the previews they've been showing is when Buchanan tries to order Jack around and he says "let's get this clear Bill. I DON'T WORK FOR YOU!" or something like that, but it was awesome!
iowahawks
I actually really like Buchanan, the actor played TC McQueen on Space: Abover and Beyond.
DarthAl
Just found that Sean Astin is going to be in charge at CTU.
ShadowDog
Come on Sunday! WOO HOO!! Just finished reading the big EW article on 24 and now I regret it because it's got me wanting the eps to start more than ever, if that's possible!
Thomas Alan
Isn't running CTU a demotion for Buchanan? He was above Michelle last year when she stepped in.
Jacen123
Yeah. I believe they said his official position was Director of Division, although, with how quickly things go on the show, I could have likely missed something or misheard that. Still, that initial preview is likely not completely correct with what it says and likely means that Buchanan will play a significant role again. Who knows, though? It could just be a case similar to Mason's between Seasons 1 and 2, where after just filling in at CTU, he ended up stuck there. shrug
iowahawks
Yeah he was head of division in Season 4...
EwoksSuck
I saw a report yesterday where Sutherland said the producers of 24 are starting to explore ideas for turning 24 in to a feature film franchise. I wonder if that means this season will be the last?
Thomas Alan
That rumor's been going around for awhile.

I wouldn't be surprised if the show doesn't last too much longer. It looks like a hell of a strain for everyone involved (which is probably why they needed to push back the starting date for a couple of months last year).

Never really thought it would work so well as a feature film though. Then again, my the best comparrison would be "Nick of Time".

Yeah, I thought maybe it was that too. But Mason was never as high up as Buchanan (who is basically as high up as Chapelle was in previous seasons...before Jack shot him laugh ).

Unless Presdient Logan decided to put him on his s*** list for some reason (which I suppose he's capable of), it doesn't make much sense.

There's no way I'm sitting in a theatre for twenty-four hours straight.

I'm in the middle of watching the Season 4 deleted scenes and they resolve the Behrooz situation in two pretty quick scenes. I guess they just didn't have the time to fit them into the episode. shrug
iowahawks
What happened, I just assumed they killed him...
Jacen123
Curtis tracked him down with Chloe's help with satellites and got to him just before he was about to be killed. Then he was brought into CTU for a brief appearance during a cut scene from the final episode.
Thomas Alan
Sounds like something they could've kept. But, I suppose now he gets to come back to have his revenge!

laugh Well TV guide has an article and it suggests the ratings are so high for 24 that FOX wants to keep the series going minus Jack and spin off Jack Bauer on his own film franchise. I suspect if they do a film series it will actually be like a more intense/gritty/darker updated James Bond type of thing.
Dom
I really hate turning on the television to watch a show and seeing a ****ing football game on.
Ashaman
I missed the end of season 4 it seems, what did I miss that forced Jack to do what he did?
Decepticon
DAMMIT!

Can somebody please sum up anything i should know about season 4? I watched it for a while, but lost track. Why do they need to think Jack is dead?

I should have rented it! I need to know before it starts tonight!
Dom
Holy ****, they killed off two main characters in the first half hour.
Otanku
OMG! This was HANDS DOWN the best opening 2 hours of 24 EVER!! Hell, the first 5 mins were intense!

****SPOILER******

When Palmer got shot I was literally in shock! I was like "HOLY SH**! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED!!" Then when Michelle got blown up I was like "OMGWTFBBQ!! THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!"

But the biggest shock was probably Chloe gettin some. tongue.gif

This season is gonna be awesome!

Let's see, Jack lead a secret mission in to the Chinese Consulate in LA to kidnap a chinese official that had info on an impending attack. The mission was not "officially" sanctioned even though President Logan via David Palmer okayed it. When Jack and his team tried to get out of the Consulate a senior Chinese official was killed in the crossfire between Jack's team and the Chinese Consulate guards. A Chinese investigator was able to determine Jack's involvement and in order to avert an international crisis President Logan disavowed knowledge of the attack and promised to capture/turn over those responsible. To cover it up Logan's, Chief of Staff (if I remember correctly - he's the guy on the cell phone talking to the head terrorist guy about altering the first lady's conversation with Palmer in tonight's last episode) convinced Logan it would be better to cover the whole thing up by blaming it on Jack and have him killed. A secret Service Agent was sent to CTU to "arrest" Jack but he really was ordered to kill him. Palmer found out and warned Jack the agent was on his way to kill him. Tony, Michelle, and Chloe helped Jack stage his death to convince the Secret Serivce agent and thus the world that he had been killed in a shoot out and escape CTU. Jack took a false identity and disappeared. Tony, Michelle, Chloe, and Palmer were the only people that knew Jack was still alive until this season started.
Decepticon
thanks buddy! the new episode airs in 10 minutes here so you were just in time!
Jacen123
good god! I'm speechless, really. So much has already happened in just two hours. The only thing I will say now, though, is that CTU just seems really empty at the moment. Hopefully, that'll change, though. Still, I like these new characters so far, and it definitely had the feel of Season 1 in some ways on top of all the craziness going on.
Dom
By the way, in case nobody knew, there's a ten minute preview for this season on the DVD for season four. You can download it here.
It takes place in Chicago six months before tonights' episode.
Jacen123
I watched that on the dvd. It doesn't seem like it fits in with this season real well, really. In fact, at this point, it sort of contradicts it sort of, I think. shrug
